11 September 2011- Siena/Rome

Today we took the train from Siena to Rome. We had a three hour wait at the train station, and so we ate lunch on the steps. I fooled around, trying to create the highest ponytail known to mankind, while Man from Mars diligently read up on Rome for the next leg of our trip.

It was a three hour trip with one change in between, and when we arrived in Rome, it was chaos, heat, humidity and noise all over again. We definitely miss the quiet strolling pace of Siena, but Rome is amazing for all its history and incredible monuments. As we came in at about 5:30 pm, we went for an early dinner at a really excellent restaurant called Target. It was recommended by our hotel because it’s close by and has great food and it definitely didn’t disappoint. Man from Mars had truffle and pear ravioli (sooo good) and I had a tomato, oregano and mozzarella pasta (simple Italian at its best).

Then we completed part of Rick Steves’ night tour and visited the Trevi Fountain. If you throw a penny over shoulder, it assures you a trip back to Rome in the future and so Man from Mars and I threw our pennies in.

Tomorrow, it’s Rome Exploring Day!
