31 August 2011- Grenoble/Nice

Today marked the end of our stay in Grenoble. I woke up a little later (still struck down by the lurgy) and Miss Boulangerie’s mother helped me a lot by telling me which French medicines work best and translating instructions so that we could buy them later on.

Before we sat down for a traditional French lunch (zucchini oven bake topped with cheese- delicious! and baked apple for dessert- so gooooood) , Miss Boulangerie took us on one final drive up along the mountains and rolling hills and we indulged in the sun and the stunning greenery. Man from Mars and I were both feeling pretty sad. In the space of three days we had grown so attached to Miss Boulangerie’s family, her giant dog (Lily/Alilly- with the francais accent, I never quite got her name, all I know is that she was the gentlest, biggest dog I’ve ever met) and the natural beauty of her city. Who knows when we’ll see Miss Boulangerie and her family again, but it suffices to say that it was an unforgettable three days. Thank you for your hospitality and kindness Miss Boulangerie and Mr and Mrs Boulangerie-- come to Australia soon!!! We miss you a lot already xxx

[The backdrop is literally Miss Boulangerie's backyard- so lucky!!]

[More rolling Alps and greenery- superb:]

We then took the train from Grenoble to Valencia, and then from Valencia to Marseilles before one final leg from Marseilles to our next destination, Nice. We arrived in Nice at 11pm, before hitting the sack for a new day in a new city.
